Our Story
Interior wood work fails in the details nobody photographs
Look closely at a badly executed slat wall and you will find the same handful of problems every time. Reveals that vary by an eighth of an inch across the run. A panel that dies awkwardly into the ceiling because nobody planned the termination. An outlet cut that was clearly made with a utility knife after the fact. None of it is visible in a photo at an angle, and all of it is visible every day when you live with it.
Wooden Interiors Inc. works from Alachua and serves Gainesville, Alachua County and North Central Florida. We make and install interior wood surfaces and the built in joinery that goes with them, for homeowners, designers, builders and commercial spaces.
Making it ourselves is the whole point. We draw the layout, mill the material, assemble and finish in our shop, and install with our own crew. There is no handoff between a supplier who cut to a standard size and an installer hoping it fits. When a wall is out of plumb by half an inch, which in Florida construction it frequently is, the person adjusting for it is the person who built the panel.
We work at every scale. A single slat wall behind a bed is a real project to us, and so is a sixteen week commercial interior. The drawings, the shop standards and the crew are the same either way.

Where a panel meets the ceiling, floor, window or a switch plate is designed, not improvised at the end of a long day.

Boards laid out and sequenced so the wall reads as one piece of material rather than a collection of offcuts.
Cured Finish
Sprayed in the shop and given real cure time. A rushed finish undoes weeks of good work in a single week of use.

Our Approach
Built for Florida walls and Florida air
Two things shape interior wood work here. The first is humidity, which moves wood more than most people expect and punishes panels that were built tight. The second is that walls in this region are frequently out of plumb, out of square or both, which is fine until you try to install a rigid 12 foot panel against one.
We plan for both. Material is acclimated before it is cut, assemblies allow for seasonal movement, and installation includes scribing rather than forcing.
